(Marinette, Wis.) – Winning drawings in a contest among students in Marinette and Menominee County elementary schools have been incorporated in Bay Area Medical Center’s 2003 Patient Room Calendar. Young artists entered hundreds of drawings on the theme “American Heroes.” Their imaginations produced illustrations of everything from Martin Luther King, Jr. to firefighters to farmers.
The twelve winners were Brandon Baxter, Lincoln Elementary; Payton Taylor, Merryman Elementary; Wes Beyer, Central Elementary; Jessica Martin, Central Elementary; Tara Marie Krause, Roosevelt Elementary; Kelsye Pickl, Peshtigo Elementary Learning Center; Morgan Mansfield, Menekaunee Elementary; Adam Nuttall, Stephenson Elementary; Blake Pogrant, Menominee Catholic Central; Beth Bjorkman, Roosevelt Elementary; Aaron Klingensmith, Garfield Elementary; and Gabrielle Ruleau, Peshtigo Elementary Learning Center. All the winning artwork is on display at The Source in the Pine Tree Mall, along with many other drawings that didn’t win but deserved attention.

Bay Area Medical Center’s patient room calendars have featured artwork by local kindergarten through fifth grade students for the past six years.

Copies of the calendar are available at the BAMC Auxiliary’s Gift Shop, the Coffee Shop at the Menominee facility, and at The Source.
