| Foundation Board Members Named (April 29, 2003) |
(Marinette, Wis.) – Scott Gerhartz, Daniel Semrau, Lorrence Hnatuk, MD, and Claude “Chum” Van Hefty were appointed to the Bay Area Medical Center Foundation board at the March meeting of the BAMC Board. The Foundation was established in late 2000 for the purpose of raising funds to support growth and technology advances at BAMC. Nancy Douglas serves as the Foundation’s executive director. "I am delighted with the business and health care expertise these new members bring to our board," says Douglas. "They will be invaluable as we continue our current capital campaign, but also into the future as we build our resources to support a strong community hospital." Gerhartz is vice-president and general manager of Ansul Incorporated in Marinette, Wis. He has over 15 years of manufacturing accounting experience contributing to organizational development, redesign, growth and savings in excess of $40 million. He is an active volunteer with the M&M Youth Hockey Association and the Cub Scouts. Semrau is community president of National City Bank in Menominee, Mich. He was also a founding director of the Menominee Animal Shelter and is currently chairman of the Board for the Marinette and Menominee Jaycees and on the board of directors for the Tri-City Area United Way. Hnatuk is an active physician and president of Northern Lights Ear, Nose & Throat with offices in Marinette, Niagara and Oconto, Wis. He has been a member of the hospital staff since 1999 and currently serves as director of the BAMC Sleep Disorders Center, medical staff credentials committee chair and member of the medical executive committee. Hnatuk is currently a coach and was instrumental in starting the Girls M&M Youth Hockey Association. Van Hefty is founder and president of CVH Enterprises, Inc., a consulting firm for the pulp and paper industry. He was past president and CEO of Badger Paper Mills, Inc. Van Hefty served on the boards of the American Pulpwood Association, Wisconsin Paper Council, the Wisconsin/Michigan Timber Producers Association, UW Marinette and the Paperloop Advisory Board. He is also a member of the Peshtigo Area Economic Development Corporation. Foundation board officers are Alton "Rick" Berquist, chairperson; David Mertens, MD, vice-chairperson; Gene Davenport, treasurer; and Kim Coggins, secretary. Other board members include Dennis Colling, John Gard, David Olson, Sue Polito and Laurie Stupak. Completing board terms are Tony Mars, MD, and Ron Beyer, director of Human Recourses for Great Lakes Pulp and Fibre. Beyer and Mars were thanked for helping to organize the hospital's first charitable foundation and for their years of service. |
