Caring
Hearts Walk (August
29, 2003) |
The 7th Annual Caring Hearts Health Walk will take place at 9:00 a.m. Saturday, September 13 starting behind Bay Area Medical Center, 3100 Shore Drive, Marinette. “We want to promote walking and make people aware of the health benefits that walking provides,” commented Karen VanHefty, coordinator of the Walk. “Walking can condition your heart and lungs, strengthen bones and muscles, relieve tension, control weight and generally make you feel good.” VanHefty is the Cardiac Rehab supervisor with Bay Area Medical Center. The event begins and ends behind BAMC, with registration starting at 8:00 a.m. and pre-walk stretching at 8:45 a.m., directed by the staff of BAMC’s Rehabilitation Services. A $5 registration fee includes a commemorative Health Walk 2003 T-shirt and heart-healthy bread, fruits and juices at the end of the walk. Over 200 walkers participated in 2002, along the same route that is planned again this year covering scenic Bay Shore Street and surrounding neighborhoods. |
