Awards Four Healthcare Scholarships (November 19, 2003) |
(Marinette, Wis.) – The Bay Area Medical Center Auxiliary awarded four outstanding candidates with continuing education scholarships at their November meeting. Carrie Bottkol, Charlene Miller, Nicole Nelson and Jennifer Schewe were chosen for their excellent qualifications and high recommendations from co-workers and nursing instructors. Bottkol is from Daggett and has been working at the Roubal Care and Rehabilitation Center for eight years. She is also enrolled in the LPN program at Northeast Wisconsin Technical College in Marinette. Miller graduated from the LPN program at NWTC in 2001. She is employed at the Luther Home and also attends NWTC in Marinette working for her registered nurse degree. Nelson lives in Crivitz and graduated form the LPN program at NWTC in 2000. She has been working on the 2-East Medical/Surgical floor at BAMC since that time. Nelson is currently attending NWTC, Marinette, to become a registered nurse. Schewe graduated from Marinette High School in 2000 and now attends the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh working towards a bachelor’s degree in nursing. She has also been working at the Renaissance for thee years and is a certified nursing assistant. Over 20 people working in the medical field and accepted into a medical-related education program applied for the scholarship. Joyce Hawkins, Auxiliary scholarship chairperson, is pleased with the results. “With such a need in our hospitals and medical fields, it is encouraging to know that many want to further their education so the public can continue to receive quality health care. This scholarship program serves a needed purpose in helping individuals upgrade their skills to improve the medical profession.” Money for the scholarship program is obtained from the Auxiliary book sale, art sale and individual donations. |
