Student Artwork Featured on BAMC Calendar Pages (December 22, 2003)

Veterinarian Office by: (Marinette, Wis.) – Artwork from area first through fifth graders will be displayed each month in this year’s Bay Area Medical Center 2004 Patient Room Calendar. Students from area schools entered over 860 drawings, all answering the question of this year’s theme: “What do you want to be when you grow up?” Drawings depicted occupations ranging from teacher and veterinarian to FBI agent and marine biologist.

This year’s twelve winners were

  • Jameson Bardowski, Menominee Catholic Central;
  • Colleen Behrens, Faith Christian School;
  • Luke Carley, Roosevelt Elementary School;
  • Erica Giese, Garfield Elementary School;
  • Emily Herzog, Coleman Elementary School;
  • Tristan Johnson, Mellen Elementary School;
  • Nathan Krause, Lincoln Elementary School;
  • Stephanie Lange, Peshtigo Elementary Learning Center;
  • Cole Lewandowski, Wausaukee Elementary School;
  • Sabrina McGuire, Central Elementary School;
  • Annika McQueeney, Porterfield Elementary School
  • Shannon Roer, home school.

“ We look forward to this project every year,” said Ms. Debbie Kroll of Lincoln Elementary School in Menominee. “The children are able to express themselves and represent their school at the same time. Many of the pictures that the children draw are simply amazing.” Over 100 occupations were drawn by school children, with the top fifteen being: teacher, fireman, artist, nurse, NFL player, veterinarian, police officer, horse rider, Nascar racer, truck driver, athlete, singer, farmer, military position and model.

“ They give us such a refreshing look at the world,” explained John Hofer, marketing director at BAMC. “The calendar has become a tradition here at BAMC, and we see this as a great way to work with our local school systems.”

Bay Area Medical Center’s patient room calendars have featured artwork by local students for the past seven years. Themes for the drawings change every year, but the quality and imagination each drawing contains remains high.

All submitted artwork is on display at the inpatient entrance at Bay Area Medical Center. Copies of the calendar are available at the BAMC Auxiliary’s Gift Shop in Marinette and the Front Door Cafe at the Menominee facility.
