John Hofer (Marinette, Wis.) – Bay Area Medical Center recognizes Encarnacion Chaney as January’s Employee of the Month and acknowledges seven others as Service Care Stars. As a practitioner in respiratory therapy, Chaney has been with BAMC since 1987. After graduating from high school in Guam, she completed her respiratory degree in Hawaii. Chaney administers breathing treatments to different age groups in various areas of the hospital, from the Emergency Room to surgery and on the medical and surgical floors. Her responsibilities also include performing diagnostic tests such as PFTs, EEGs and vascular studies. “The best thing about my job is helping people with a wide range of treatment and tests,” said Chaney. Chaney’s supervisor, Denise Maronen, describes her as someone who “practices all of the Service Care standards.” Chaney is known for promoting teamwork, supporting her peers and maintaining excellence in all that she does. Seven other employees were named Service Care Stars for exemplifying the hospital’s Service Care standards. These employees are:
