MADISON (April 12, 2004) David Olson, president and CEO, Bay Area Medical Center in Marinette, is the recipient of the Wisconsin Hospital Association’s 2004 Advocacy All-Star Award. The award is presented to an individual who best exemplifies the spirit of advocacy and encourages others to be involved in state government.

Olson received the award at the WHA Advocacy Day event held April 7 at the Monona Terrace in Madison. In presenting the award, WHA Senior Vice President Eric Borgerding said Olson and his team goes “above and beyond” the daily responsibilities of running a hospital and they take the time to go the extra mile to advocate on behalf of all Wisconsin hospitals.

A member of the WHA Board of Directors, Olson is also a member of the WHA Public Policy Council and he serves on the WHA Advocacy Committee. He played a key role in developing WHA’s health care reform proposal—Healthier Choices.

The mission of the Wisconsin Hospital Association, located in Madison, is to advocate for the ability of its members to provide high quality health care services to Wisconsin communities. WHA represents nearly 140 hospitals and health care systems across the state.
