(Marinette, Wis.) -Bay Area Medical Center, in partnership with St. Vincent Hospital Regional Cancer Center, invites the community to an open house of the Bay Area Cancer Center on Sunday July 25 from noon - 4:00 p.m. at 3100 Shore Drive in Marinette. There will be a tour of the expanded and renovated facility along with a preview of the latest in Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT) technology. This is also a great opportunity for the community to meet the physicians and staff of the center. Lunch, refreshments and music by Rivertown will be provided.

After a $7 million expansion made possible in part by contributions from the community, the Bay Area Cancer Center is ready to open its doors.

Visitors will be able to see the latest technology in the center including a Varian linear accelerator with IMRT capability. IMRT is state-of-the-art technology that allows high doses of radiation to go directly to the cancer cells while sparing more of the surrounding healthy tissue.

The tour also highlights the healing environment inside the cancer center inspired by nature with local artwork and a signature waterfall.
By using a team-centered approach, the Bay Area Cancer Center staff can determine the best, most comprehensive plan of care for patients. The team includes physicists, radiation therapists, a certified medical dosimetrist and oncology certified nurses. Together they provide radiation and drug therapy five days a week to patients in need.

This team also extends to medical professionals at Bay Area Medical Center who provide medical/surgical care, high-end diagnostic imaging, pastoral care, social services and dietary consulting.
