(Marinette, Wis.) – NorthReach Healthcare and Bay Area Medical Center welcome Miguel Escobar, MD to town.

Dr. Escobar is an Internal Medicine/Nephrology physician who is starting a new practice in Marinette. “I focus on treating the whole patient rather than just the disease,” he says of his practice.

Dr. Escobar received his Ph.D. in Pharmacology at the University of Manitoba, Canada. He received his Doctor of Medicine degree at the University of Toronto. He then came back to the United States completing Internal Medicine and Nephrology degrees at Indiana University School of Medicine. His internship, residency and fellowship were all at Indiana University School of Medicine as well, with a fellowship focusing on Nephrology. Escobar is board-certified in Internal Medicine and board-eligible in Nephrology.

With dual training in Internal Medicine and Nephrology, a number of areas interest this newcomer including hypertension, diabetes and treatment of chronic kidney disease and dialysis patients.

“Hypertension and diabetes treatments make the most difference in the care for patients. I want to help them by making them feel as comfortable as they can be during their treatments,” he says.

Preventative medicine has also been a strong emphasis. “I am dedicated to caring for patients before illness sets in, including teaching prevention through good nutrition and exercise,” Dr. Escobar states.

Dr. Escobar will be seeing patients at his primary care practice at NorthReach Internal Medicine, 3123 Shore Drive in Marinette. With specialty training in nephrology, he will also oversee the Dialysis Department at BAMC.

Dr. Escobar is the recipient of many awards and honors including second place for the Indiana School of Medicine Resident Research Award and the Travel Award from the American Society of Nephrology. He also received a Research Scholarship for two years from the Division of Clinical Pharmacology and Toxicology, Hospital for Sick Children, Toronto, Canada.

Dr. Escobar is now accepting patients at NorthReach Internal Medicine (715-732-2299).
