Patsy Furmanski is selected as Bay Area Medical Center’s Employee of the Month for April (2005).

(Marinette, Wis.) – Bay Area Medical Center recognizes Patsy Furmanski, RN, as the Employee of the Month for April and acknowledges seven others as Service Care Stars.

Furmanski is an RN in the Two East Medical/Surgical department at Bay Area Medical Center. She began her employment at Bay Area Medical Center in December of 1988.

As an RN on Two East, Furmanski cares for oncology patients. This involves tending to their physical, emotional and spiritual needs. She especially likes knowing she provides hope and comfort for the patients.

Bobbi Morton, Director of Two East Med/Surg noted, “Patsy leads by example. She has a great rapport with patients, physicians and co-workers. Patsy works hard to offer, a great education to patients and their families. She truly loves every aspect of nursing.”

When asked to comment about being employed at BAMC, Furmanski replied, “I like the fact that BAMC is a large enough hospital to offer many services that the big city hospitals do, but small enough that we serve the people in our backyards, our family and friends.”

Seven other employees are named Service Care Stars for exemplifying the hospital’s Service Care standards. These employees are:

• Amy Sielaff, RN, Two East Med/Surg, for making a positive first impression;
• Kris LaFave, RN, One East Med/Surg for treating others as guests;
• Linda Newbury, RN, Recovery, for developing service recovery;
• Michele Rudolph, Dietary Aide, Dietary, for communicating effectively;
• Diane Ries, Nurse Aide, Nursing Float Pool, for serving others from a team-centered approach;
• Amy Heilman, LPN, Urology Clinic, for projecting a positive attitude; and
• Cheryl Cowell, Chart Reviewer, Pre-surgical Services, for making excellence her goal.
