(Marinette, Wis.) – The BAMC Menominee River Century Bike Ride, one of the largest bike rides in the Midwest, will take place Sunday, June 26, starting at the Marinette High School. Registrations will be taken up to the day of the ride by mail-in forms or by registering online at www.mrcride.com. Mail-in forms and brochures are available at local chambers of commerce and bike shops. The fee per rider before June 15 is $22, which includes a T-shirt. After June 15, the fee is $20 without a T-shirt. To make it more reasonable for families to participate this year, children 12 and under will be only $10 and a child in tow is free. Also, as in the past, a full breakfast and a post-ride pasta lunch will be served for $5 each. This 24th annual bike ride offers scenic 15 km (10 mile), 40 km (25 mile), 80 km (50 mile) and 120 km (75 mile) routes along rivers, lakeshores and winding back roads through Peshtigo, Porterfield, Marinette and Menominee. Rest stops are also located along each route and are famous for great food and entertainment. Included in these stops is the famous Dory’s Supper Club with grilled burgers and live music by the Royal Street Red Hots jazz band. Other highlights include top-flight SAG service available on each route to repair bicycles, team competition, nature guides at the Peshtigo Harbor Wildlife area and Audubon guides at Chappee Rapids Water Stop to point out special historical and botanical features. This event also includes a free Concert in the Park Saturday, June 25, and an art fair the day of the ride from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., both at Menominee’s Great Lakes Memorial Park.
