Kathy Cook is selected as Bay Area Medical Center’s Employee of the Month for July (2005).

(Marinette, Wis.) – Bay Area Medical Center recognizes Kathy Cook, an RN in the Post-Anesthesia Recovery Department, as the Employee of the Month for July and acknowledges seven others as Service Care Stars.

Cook began her employment at Bay Area Medical Center in 1989. She assumed her role in the Recovery Department in 2001. As an RN, Cook monitors patients, administers pain medication and also gives conscious sedation. She enjoys working at BAMC and is happy to be part of the organization. She also enjoys working with all of her co-workers.

Cathy Miles, Director of Surgical Services, said that, “Kathy is friendly and caring with patients and families post-operation. She also willingly accepts new challenges and follows through on projects.”

When asked to comment about being employed at BAMC, Cook replied, “I am proud to be a BAMC employee and feel fortunate to have worked here for nearly 16 years. I look forward to my future years at BAMC.”

Seven other employees are named Service Care Stars for exemplifying the hospital’s Service Care standards. These employees are:

• Kelley Balzola, Technician II in Diagnostic Imaging, for making a positive first impression;
• Karen Anderson, RN in Two East Med/Surg, for treating others as guests;
• Kevin Frost, Lead Biomedical Technician in Biomedical Services, for developing service recovery;
• Cindy Smith, Order Entry Technician in Pharmacy, for communicating effectively;
• Jan Pear, Medical Technologist in Lab, for serving others from a team-centered approach;
• Jennifer Helms, Commercial Reviewer in Case Management, for projecting a positive attitude; and
• John Radloff, Director of Accounting in Accounting, for making excellence his goal.
