NorthReach Healthcare Physician John Briody, MD
Lisa Brown is selected as Bay Area Medical Center’s Employee of the Month for September (2005).

(Marinette, Wis.) – Bay Area Medical Center recognizes Lisa Brown, a Coding and Patient Account Specialist in the Physician Billing Department, as the Employee of the Month for September and acknowledges seven others as Service Care Stars.

Brown graduated from Oconto High School and is a graduate of Northeast Wisconsin Technical College Business Office training. She has completed a Certified Professional Coding (CPC) course and passed the certification exam.

In her position, Brown codes charges for oncology and nephrology and works with patient claims. She has been at Bay Area Medical Center since 1998. As Brown notes, her greatest accomplishments at BAMC have been completing the CPC class and taking over the oncology coding and billing.

She was chosen as the employee of the month for September for her excellence in service and caring when handling claims for cancer patients. “It’s difficult to have them worrying about their medical bills. Lisa always takes the time to address their questions to the patient’s satisfaction,” said Dawn LaPlant, supervisor of the Physician Billing.

When asked to comment about being employed at BAMC, Brown replied, “I work with a great bunch of gals who all work together, and I am proud to be a BAMC employee.”

Seven other employees are named Service Care Stars for exemplifying the hospital’s Service Care standards. These employees are:

  • Lisa Wingender, Social Worker in Case Management, for making a positive first impression;
  • Dena Noffke, Transport/Darkroom Aide in Diagnostic Imaging, for treating others as guests;
  • Jill Hass, Commercial Reviewer in Case Management, for developing service recovery;
  • Inga Meixell, Physical Therapist in Rehabilitation Services, for communicating effectively;
  • Patti Amerman, RN in OB/GYN department, for serving others from a team-centered approach;
  • Kathy Casperson, Dietary Aide in Dietetic Services, for projecting a positive attitude; and
  • Julie Washburn, Director of Dietetic Services, for making excellence her goal.

These employees are also recognized on BAMC’s website at www.bamc.org/servicecare/09-05.html.
