Recognizes Employees for November/December (January 2, 2006) |

(Marinette, Wis.) – Bay Area Medical Center recognizes Polly Hubbard, Receptionist in the Rehabilitation Services Department, has been named Employee of the Month for November and Bonita Higgins, RN in the Intensive Care Unit/Intermediate Care Unit, as Employee of the Month for December 2005 Polly graduated from Stephenson High School. She began working for Bay Area Medical Center in the Rehab Department in December 2001. As a Receptionist at the Mobility Center, Polly schedules appointments, registers patients and escorts them to the Pool for Aquatic Therapy. Ann Kresl, Director of Rehab Services said “Polly strives to do her best for patients and co-workers. She has a wonderful attitude and is willing to help out when needed. She has a lot of energy and is a very hard worker.” When asked to comment about being employed at BAMC, Polly replied, “I enjoy working with such outstanding people and the relationships we build with our patients. It is exciting to know how we touch others can be a great part of their healing.”
Bonita graduated from DeTour High School and went on to continue her education in Nursing. She completed her LPN degree at Kellogg Community College, and later received her RN degree from Bay College. Bonita began working for Bay Area Medical Center in the Two East Med/Surg Department in 1990, first as an LPN and then transitioned to the RN role. She started in the ICU/IMCU in 1994. Bonita is ACLS certified and is working towards competency in Arterial Line Insertion. As a Nurse in the ICU/IMCU, Bonita’s duties vary as the patient census changes. She especially likes getting to know her patients and their families and having the opportunity to teach them about their condition. Bonita noted “There is never a dull moment in the ICU!” Paula Lintner, Director of Critical Care Services, said “Bonita is always willing to lend a helping hand to her teammates and is very considerate of those she works with.” Fourteen other employees are named Service Care Stars for exemplifying the hospital’s Service Care standards.
