(Marinette, Wis.) – Connie Hass and Jessica Wilke of Marinette Farm & Garden presents a check for $900 to David Olson, president and CEO of Bay Area Medical Center, and Dr. David Mertens, medical director of the Bay Area Cancer Center.

Marinette Farm & Garden began a “Seeds of Hope” event to celebrate the renovation of their business and in memory of Tina Chaltry. Chaltry, a dear friend of Pete and Connie Hass, owners of Marinette Farm &Garden, lost a courageous battle with cancer in April 2005. Marinette Farm & Garden plans to make “Seeds of Hope” an annual event. The event also supports the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.

“We want to remember Tina’s spirit by giving to a cause that meant so much to her. ‘Seeds of Hope’ will benefit local residents and also help fund future breast cancer research,” stated Hass.

We are grateful for the gift from Marinette Farm & Garden. These funds will be earmarked to help support the new clinical trials program at the Bay Area Cancer Center,” stated hospital CEO David Olson. “Clinical trials in cancer care allow Bay Area Medical Center to be a part of nationwide studies involving national centers of excellence. Sometimes when a patient has been through all the standard treatments, a clinical trail can offer them new hope,” said Olson.
