Margie Reiswitz, medical assistant at Bay Area Orthopaedic Consultants, was named Bay Area Medical Center’s employee of the month for September 2006.

(Marinette, Wis.) – Bay Area Medical Center recognized Margie Reiswitz, medical assistant at Bay Area Orthopaedic Consultants, and Andrea Geltz, RN, Intensive Care/Intermediate Care/Cardiovascular Interventional Suite, as employees of the month for September and October, respectively, and acknowledged fourteen others as Service Care Stars.

Reiswitz graduated from Marinette Catholic High School and attended Career Academy in Milwaukee for her medical assistant course. She also attended a casting and splinting seminar, which is essential for her role in the orthopaedic clinic.

Reiswitz began her employment at BAMC in 2003. In the Bay Area Orthopaedic Consultants clinic she assists the physicians with procedures, applies casts and splints, and schedules tests, surgeries and referrals. She particularly enjoys working closely with patients and tries to make them feel comfortable.

When asked about being employed at BAMC, Reiswitz responded, “although I feel I am learning everyday at my job, BAMC encourages and helps employees to attend seminars and educational classes.” Reiswitz went on the say that, “free cancer screenings (mammograms, skin, prostate, etc.) are a great opportunity for our community.”

Shelly Schultz, physician clinic supervisor, noted that, “Margie is always positive and cheerful. She goes the extra mile with patients. Her co-workers think highly of her and she does a great job of sharing information with all the BAMC clinics.”

In September, seven other employees were named Service Care Stars for exemplifying the hospital’s Service Care Standards. These employees were
