| For more information contact: Ophthalmology is the art and science of eye medicine. To achieve board recertification, candidates must successfully complete the maintenance of certification (MOC) process for practicing ophthalmologists and meet the rigorous credential and professional standards set by the ABO. The MOC components are designed to assess the knowledge, experience and skills needed for the delivery of high standards of patient care in ophthalmology. Physicians and surgeons are tested and evaluated in four areas:
Achieving this board recertification provides assurance to the public and to the medical profession that certified physicians continue education activities, keep current in information and skills, and practice in a modern and safe manner. “I am pleased with the structure and requirements of the board-certification process. It coincides with my dedication to upholding professional standards and my sincere interest in providing patients the best care possible,” said Bozelka. Bozelka received his PhD in pathology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1978, and perused post-doctoral training and research positions in that field before completing his doctor of medicine from Louisiana State University in 1990. He went on to complete an internal medicine internship at Louisiana State University in 1991 and an ophthalmology residency at Loyola University Medical Center in Illinois in 1993. He has been an ophthalmologist at Bay View Ophthalmology in Marinette since 1994. Bozelka and his staff are dedicated to providing comprehensive eye care for the entire family. Bozelka’s dedication also extends to the local medical community. He has served on the Bay Area Medical Center Board of Directors since January 2000, and as Chief of Surgery at BAMC from January 1, 1998 through December 31, 1999.
