BAMC Recognizes Employees for March (February 19, 2007)

Jessica Korpi, Human Resource Generalist in Human Resources, was named Bay Area Medical Center’s employee of the month for March 2007.

(Marinette, Wis.) – Bay Area Medical Center recognized Jessica Korpi, Human Resource Generalist in Human Resources, as employee of the month for March and acknowledged seven others as Service Care Stars.

Korpi graduated from Bark River-Harris High School in Bark River, Michigan. She continued her education at Northern Michigan University where she earned her Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations. Shortly after beginning her career in Human Resources, Korpi went on to receive her Professional Human Resource Certification.

Korpi began working at Bay Area Medical Center in 2002 and in 2003 accepted her position in Human Resources. As Human Resource Generalist, her primary responsibility is recruitment. In her recruitment role, she works closely with department directors to fill job openings. Korpi is also involved with BAMC’s employee recognition programs as well as employee events planning.

She is described as having a cheerful way that is contagious. Curt Oberholtzer, Assistant Administrator of Human Resources and Organizational Development, stated, “Jessica models every Service Care Standard consistently, everyday. She goes out of her way to make a person feel valued and has received numerous accolades from the individuals she serves.”

When asked to comment about being a BAMC employee, Korpi said, “I like when I am able to hire someone and see them grow within the organization. It is rewarding for me to help an employee reach their career aspirations.” She goes on to say, “I am grateful to BAMC for the growth opportunities they have provided me. I am especially honored to be given the EOM award.”

In March, seven other employees were named Service Care Stars for exemplifying the hospital’s Service Care Standards. These employees were:

  • Andy Sebero, RT(R), PACS Applications Specialist, Diagnostic Imaging, for making a positive first impression;
  • Kathy Doubek, Office Assistant, Occupational Health, for treating others as guests;
  • Ashley Clements, Transcription Clerk, Health Information Management, for developing service recovery;
  • Linda Newbury, Admission/Procedure RN, Two East Med/Surg, for communicating effectively;
  • Roberta Bretl, Billing Clerk, Physician Billing, for serving others from a team-centered approach;
  • Lynn Caelwaerts, Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant, Occupational Therapy, for projecting a positive attitude; and
  • Beth Lewis, LPN, Physician Clinics, for making excellence the goal.

Bay Area Medical Center is a 99-bed general acute care hospital located in Northeast Wisconsin.
