BAMC Recognizes Employees for April

Darlene Borkovec
Darlene Borkovec, Lead Receptionist for the Physician Clinics, was named Bay Area Medical Center’s employee of the month for April 2007.

(Marinette, Wis.) – Bay Area Medical Center recognized Darlene Borkovec, Lead Receptionist for the Physician Clinics, as the Employee of the month for April and acknowledged seven others as Service Care Stars.

Borkovec graduated from Peshtigo High School. She began working at Bay Area Medical Center in 1996 and has held various positions throughout the organization. Darlene has worked in the Business Office, Registrations, Orthopedic Clinic and now she is the Lead Receptionist for all the BAMC Physician Clinics.

As the Lead Receptionist, Borkovec develops policies and procedures and works to implement them. She fills in for receptionists who are off in the specialty clinics, such as Cardiology, Orthopedics, Neurology, Urology and Surgery. Borkovec likes being a receptionist as she enjoys the variety of being able to work in all the different clinics.

Shelly Schultz, Physician Clinic Supervisor commented on how Borkovec exceeds all seven service care standards. She said that “Darlene especially shines in communicating effectively and serving others from a team-centered approach.  She does a really good job keeping all of the clinics up to date with information they need to be able to do their jobs better.  Darlene works from a team-centered approach by always being willing to help out where needed. She often times has to be moved around to more than one clinic in a day. Darlene is always focused on learning and finding ways to improve.”

When asked to comment about being employed at BAMC, Borkovec replied “I am proud to work at BAMC with such caring providers. I also enjoy the many wonderful, fun co-workers I am privileged to work with.”

In April, seven other employees were named Service Care Stars for exemplifying the hospital’s Service Care Standards. These employees were

  • Kim Krueger, RN, Surgical Services for making a positive first impression;
  • Linda Thoney, Customer Service Representative, Patient Financial Services for treating others as guests;
