| BAMC Menominee River Century Bike Ride – 26th Anniversary on June 24 (June 13, 2007) |
For Immediate Release For more information contact: John Hofer
The ride will begin at Marinette High School on 2135 Pierce Avenue and offers 10, 25, 50 and 75-mile routes through scenic routes and historical sites in Marinette and Menominee Counties. “There is a route for every level of rider, from experienced to novice” said John Hofer, ride chairperson and director of marketing at Bay Area Medical Center. “Families can enjoy the leisurely 10-mile ride with a carnival-like rest stop for children, a colorful rider t-shirt, historical pictures and articles showing the ride’s rich history. The popular Dory’s rest stop will be rocking again this year with great food and music from the local band, “Royal Street Red Hots,” live from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., notes John Hofer. The post-ride celebration at Marinette High School will include more food, fun, and music. Top-flight SAG service will be on each route to repair bicycles, and Audubon and nature guides will be available at the Bloch Oxbow & Pines Primeval Natural Area and Chappee Rapids stops to point out special historical and botanical features. Registration is available on-line at MRCRide.com, or registration forms and brochures can be picked up at the Marinette/Menominee Chamber of Commerce and area bike shops. The fee per rider is $20 (no t-shirt) after June 15. Registration for children 12 and under is $10, and the 10-mile family fun ride will be $5/person. Children in carts are free. Team registration is also encouraged. After the ride on Sunday, participants are encouraged to attend Art For All from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., at Menominee’s Great Lakes Memorial Park.
