Your kidneys -- twin organs that perform vital, life-maintaining functions - are necessary to sustain life. They clean waste materials and excess fluids from the blood, filter the blood, maintaining some compounds, excreting others; and help regulate blood pressure and the red blood cell count.

When someone's kidneys fail, they must either receive dialysis treatments or a kidney transplant. Bay Area Medical Center offers hemodialysis, where a machine purifies the blood, and peritoneal dialysis, which can be done inside the patient's body and without machines.

We also provide dialysis care for visiting and vacationing people, and have 24-hour on-call emergency services. Regardless of which option a patient chooses, the specially trained staff of nurses and technicians is always available to answer questions or provide guidance.
