Bay Area Medical CanCare Clinic is located across the street from St. Pete General Hospital. Our medical office is an Internal Medicine/Cardiology & Family Practice Medical Center that performs most medical test & procedures in the office so patients can get results right away instead of waiting on a lab or diagnostic center. In office services include Heart & Stoke Screenings, labs, x-rays, EKG, Ultrasounds, Echocardiogram, Pulmonary function studies, Routine Injections for allergies, immunizations, antibiotics and hormone therapy, Specialty Injections such as hormone implants for prostate cancer and birth control. Major joint aspiration and cortisone injections, IV therapy & Minor Surgery that includes routine laceration repair, minor wound debridement, skin lesion removal and lancing of abscesses. We also accept most American Insurance and Travelers Insurance for Canadian patients. We have an on-site Pharmacy & we can provide emergency hospitalization, so patients don't have to wait in an emergency room to be admitted into the hospital.

Dr. Handelman is a 1977 graduate of the University of Louisville School of Medicine. He completed his internship in the United States Public Health Service Hospital in New Orleans, Louisiana; and he completed his internal medicine residency at the Medical Center of Central Georgia in Macon, Georgia which is part of the Mercer University School of Medicine program. Dr. Handelman received fellowship training in Cardiology at Robert Packer Hospital through the Guthrie Clinic located in Sayre, PA. Dr. Handelman has had 20,000 hours of Emergency Room experience as well as extensive in hospital and intensive care experience. He is board-certified in Internal Medicine and is on active staff at several of our local hospitals.

Myung Joo Handelman, A.P.R.N.


Mrs. Handelman is a native of Seoul, South Korea and immigrated to the United States 25 years ago. She is now a citizen of the United States. She received her nursing degree from the Korean Armed Forces nursing Academy in Seoul, South Korea, and worked as a staff nurse in the emergency department of the Korean Armed Forces Hospitals in South Korea. She was honorably discharged with a Captain's commission from the Korean Armed Forces and subsequently enrolled in the Korean National Open University where she majored in English language and literature. She holds a bachelors degree in English. In the United States, she attended University of South Florida and earned a degree of Masters of Science in Nursing and is a Board-Certified Nurse Practitioner. She is licensed to diagnose and treat and prescribe medications. She has had extensive experience in both emergency medicine and adult internal medicine and has been a member of the practice since 2000. She is a certified IV nurse.
